Brian Hunter e l’arte del materasso

Non so molto su Brian Hunter, a parte il fatto che in Canada la sua arte sta spopolando da quasi 5 anni e a parte il fatto che esistono duemila omonimi, tra cui commercianti di gas naturale ed ex giocatori di baseball.

Il caro Brian ha risposto a una mia mail in cui gli chiedevo qualcosa in più sull’arte del materasso: “I started painting on old mattresses left on the street a few years ago while I was living in Montreal. Each July 1st in Montreal all landlords have apartment leases synchronized making it the official Moving Day of the city. The next day the city is littered with abandoned furniture and mattresses that end up getting left behind, providing lots of treasures for the scavengers. While trying to avoid catching any bed bugs I always try and scope out the best mattresses. My favorites are the ones with the flowery patterns mixed with the visible stains from the previous owners. The more disgusting the better“.

Per approfondire i suoi lavori vi consiglio di dare un’occhiata al suo sito. Personalmente sono rimasto colpito dall’utilizzo dei materassi, sarà che qui nella città in cui vivo ne vedo molti abbandonati tra i vari cassoni dell’immondizia.
